<span style="color: #000000;”>The unification was a reaction to the economic ressesion in 2008. The crisis fractured the EU in 2021 in a northern and a southern union as the tensions between the countries became too hot to handle.
<span style="color: #000000;”>Each replaced the euro with it’s own currency. Switserland joined the rich northern union, as well as Norway, to ensure a stable future.
<span style="color: #000000;”>The UK did not join the northern union economically at first, as they were sure that their pound would withstand the test of time, though, in 2037, the almighty pound, which had survived the economic crisis, fell.
<span style="color: #000000;”>This was the dawn of a new, smaller crisis.
<span style="color: #000000;”>It didn’t influence the rest of the world that much, but it was big enough to change the mindset of most European governments.
<span style="color: #000000;”>After some persuasion all european governments were looking in the same direction, one of peace, stability and prosperity.
<span style="color: #000000;”>The unification, as it is known as nowadays, was in reach, until patriots wanted to change course.
<span style="color: #000000;”>They would not give up their countries, for which their ancestors have fought for.
<span style="color: #000000;”>Riots were taking place and Europe was in state of war with itself.
<span style="color: #000000;”>Because the pro-unionists had the governments to support them, more and more patriots joined them or at least layed down their weapons.
<span style="color: #000000;”>Each nation held a referendum to decide what to do.
<span style="color: #000000;”>In 2041 had the Athens treaty been signed, resulting in one big European nation, economically,linguistically, technologically and militaristically.
