Hello guys!
I want to write a bit about the user tags, just for transparency’s sake.
So the website is hosted by meebox and powered by wordpress.
You can customize wordpress a lot, but it has a lot of presets/themes too. This forum uses the ForumEngine theme.
In this theme you can give users a certain role. Some roles give priviliges, like the admin and the mod. All others don’t. There are 6 roles in total. An admin can give each of these roles a name that will be displayed under the profile picture of a user. Everyone gets the lowest role when they register but an admin may upgrade a user’s role manually.
Here’s an overview of the 6 roles available on the forum and their names:
Subscriber – ” ” – Standard role
Contributor – “Helpful”
Author – “Wise”
Editor – “Devoted”
Moderator – “Master” – Can edit and delete threads and comments
Administrator – “Guru” – Can edit the whole site
Like I said, and admin like me can give a user a role, and with that a tag. I’ve been trying to give people a proper tag. Here’s how I decide when I upgrade your tag:
– I’ll upgrade your tag to Helpful if you’ve shown that you’re not only here to ask questions but also for answering questions and giving tips.
– I’ll upgrade your tag to Wise if you’re all of the above and have shown a certain expertise and experience.
– I’ll upgrade your tag to Devoted if you’re all of the above and have dedicated a lot of time to the forum. Look at HunGARE, Job and Kalaskryss.
– I’ll upgrade your tag to Mod if you’re all of the above, I feel I can trust you and we’re in need of a new mod.
I’ll never upgrade you to Guru. That’s something Brackeys needs to decide.
What is the goal of the tags?
It’s to incentivize people to help others and come back to the forum and for newcommers to know who the forum veterans are.
So, there you have it 🙂
If you have suggestions for improvents (like better names for the tags), then let me know!
Also if you think someone deserves a better tag than he already has, then share it here and I will take a look at it 😀
Good luck and a happy new year!
