2d weapon pick up

I’m very new to programing and I’m following brackeys 2d platformer tutorials and I’m going to try to build off of it. My idea is that you have to find parts for you ship and weapons around the map. One of the things I need to have is an item pick up script one that is for the finished weapon and on for parts. For the finished one I want it to appear on a podium and you have to walk over and pick it up but I can’t seem to find a way to have the weapon appear and be able to shoot in his hand. As for the unfinished parts I just want the to go into like an inventory type thing and you be able to build it at a podium. If anyone can plz help me out. And if brackeys sees this plz make a tutorial on so other people can grow of the concept of buildables in a game.

hi there GoldenCarrot i am very new to programing also and i am having a problem kinda like this also it is for cloning platforms i am not sure if u could help or not but i just thought that i would ask. and also if i find out how i will tell you thx

You can try instaintiating the object prefab. Just make a prefab of the object with everything you want in the scene view and drag it into the project window. If you wanna figure out how to instantiate go to unity3d.comand click the learn – tutorials -scripting – instantiate.

No but I just editited the inventory brackeys made and it works fine.
